Weapon description
P.38, manufactured by Mauser, calibre 9 mm Luger, made in 1945, eight-shot (magazine capacity).
This weapon was assembled until the end of World War II. It has the correct designation for this type of pistol from 1945.
The weapon is marked on the left side at the beginning of the breech with the type designation P.38. Behind it is the manufacturer code designation svw (the Mauser company changed the code designation from the familiar byf to svw in late 1944) and below the code is the number 45 indicating the year of manufacture 1945. The entire serial number is stamped in front of the safety lever. It is also located above the trigger guard root. Behind it is stamped the military eagle acceptance mark WaA 135 (WaA -Wehrmachtsabnahme and the number 135 was assigned to the Armaments Office officer Major Rosehagen). The left side also shows the number 4 marked with the front sight – the production control mark.
On the right side of the breech, the weapon is marked with only three consecutive marks. The eagle WaA135 as the first and third mark and between them there is a stylized eagle with a swastika marking the army verification mark (tormentation). The production number with the series letter is also stamped under the barrel.
The pistol magazine is produced by ENM, Niedereinsiedel (North Bohemia – Dolni Poustevna) and is marked with the factory code jvd and the eagle acceptance mark WaA 706. The pistol is fitted with matching black thermoplastic grip panels.
