Weapon description
COLT MODEL 1902 Military automatic pistol, manufacturer Colt Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company, caliber .38 rimless, eight rounds (magazine capacity), production year 1915.
Left side of the slide, in two lines, features the patents used with dates of their recognition PATENTED. APR. 20. 1897. SEPT. 9. 1902. The second part in two lines indicates the abbreviated manufacturer COLT S PT.F. A. MFG. CO. and production location HARTFORD, CT. U. S. A. the city of Hartford, Connecticut, USA. The end of the slide behind the grooving bears the Colt logo, a prancing horse with two spears.
The right side of the barrel slide has the inscription AUTOMATIC COLT and in the second line below it the weapon caliber designation CALIBER 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS (borderless ammunition with smokeless gunpowder).
The left side above the trigger guard root on the weapon body holds a stamped serial number. The trigger guard root, under the serial number, bears a weakly stamped factory verification mark VP (Verified Proof) in a triangle. Worker’s inspection mark, No. 1, is stamped on the trigger guard by the grip.
The weapon bears British V-shaped inspection and verification marks of the testing laboratory in London with a crown and a GP with a crown. They are located on the left side at the end of the slide at the logo and at the end of the pistol body and also on the barrel visible in the ejection port.
The magazine is correct, blackened with a blue reflection, standard marking CAL. 38 COLT in two lines on the outside of the magazine bottom.
The weapon includes a typical military case made of thick black leather from manufacturer H.H.HEISER DENVER.
