Weapon description
COLT MODEL 1911, manufacturer: Colt Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company, caliber .45 ACP, seven rounds (magazine capacity), manufactured in 1918. Delivered to the United States Army or Marine Corps (unable to specify). Delivery took place in the second half of 1918.
The pistol is marked in two parts on the left side. The first part closer to the muzzle contains mainly the patents protecting the weapon production PATENTED APR.20, I897.SEPT.9, I902 DEC.I9, I905. FEB.I4, I9II.AUG.I9, I9I3. The second part has abbreviated manufacturer name COLT´S PT.F.A.MFG.CO. and in the second line HARTFORD, CT.U.S.A, the manufacturer location – Hartford, Connecticut, USA. The middle bears the COLT company trademark in the form of a prancing horse with two spears.
On its right side, the slide is marked MODEL OF 19II. U.S.ARMY. The pistol body has the proprietary mark of either the United States Army or the Marine Corps UNITED STATES PROPERTY and under it the weapon number, with the designation of the Latin abbreviation № words numero in the front.
The left side above the magazine release, has a personal mark of the acceptance employee of the Armament Service in the form of an eagle head and SI8 below it. The left side of the rear root of the trigger guard has number 45 of the plant assembly worker designation.
Three magazines are included with the weapon, two corresponding in a two-tone color, one with an eye on the bottom and the third one also in a two-tone color from the manufacturer Risdon Tool and Machine Company, produced during the Second World War.
