Weapon description
P.08, manufacturer DWM – Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken, caliber 9 mm Luger, manufactured in 1916, eight rounds (magazine capacity).
The weapon has the correct marking for the year of manufacture 1916. The pistol is marked with the DWM manufacturer’s logo on the top of the joint slide and the last two digits of the serial number on the front of the joint, behind the logo and at the rear end of the joint. The year 1916 is stamped on the slide cover on the top. The entire serial number is stamped on the left side of the front of the frame, and the last two digits of the serial number are stamped on the release lever, the cover plate, extractor, hammer catch, and the safety lever. The front part of the bolt has a styled eagle stamped on this side, expressing the weapon being tested with a larger propellant cartridge load, an accuracy and functionality test. This verification mark is also located on the right side at the beginning of the weapon frame and also on the right side of the barrel stem. On the right side of the slide behind the verification Eagle, there are army acceptance marks HSS in the Gothic shape with a crown. The mark was the initial letter of the inspector surname symbolizing quality verification goods taken over (reassembly and inspection of components after firing).
The barrel underside, at the weapon body, is stamped with the entire serial number (this weapon is marked with manufacturing number only, with no additional letter), including the value of the bore diameter of 8.83 mm. The entire serial number with the series letter is also stamped on the weapon body under the muzzle
The weapon has wooden milled grip panels with a dovetail corresponding to the given type of weapon. Magazine with a wooden shoe without a number corresponding to the version of the year of manufacture of the weapon.
