Weapon description
Pistolet automatique Modele 1935S M1, MAC – Manufacture Nationale d’Armes de Chatellerault, calibre 7, 65 mm Longue (long), made in early 1947, eight-shot (magazine capacity).
This is a weapon manufactured by the M.A.C. factory after the end of World War II. The weapon has the correct markings for this type of weapon. The gun is marked on the left side of the slide with the manufacturer’s abbreviation M.A.C.. Right side of the slide features a stamped gun model designation MODELE 1935 S M1. In 1935 a competition was opened to supply an army pistol, in which this model perticipated. The supplementary letter S marks the manufacturer from Saint Etienne (MAS) where the pistol was made. A variant of this weapon, designated M1, had the safety modified by MAC. MAC manufacturer marking, serial letter and serial number are stamped again on the weapon body, above the trigger guard root. The entire weapon is phosphated throughout and the slide is blackened.
The gun has black bakelite grip panels with herringbone, smooth around the edges corresponding to the weapon type. The steel magazine is marked 1935 – S on the underside, corresponding to the weapon manufacture year.
